LEAVES
By Elise N. Brady

How silently they tumble down
And come to rest upon the ground
To lay a carpet, rich and rare,
Beneath the trees without a care,
Content to sleep, their work well done,
Colors gleaming in the sun.
At other times, they wildly fly
Until they nearly reach the sky.
Twisting, turning through the air
Till all the trees stand stark and bare.
Exhausted, drop to earth below
To wait, like children, for the snow.
ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT SEASON?
Fall is many things, beautiful sights, that wonderful smell in the air, crisp mornings and warm days and your last chance to do some preparation around the house before the snow flies.

Fall To Do List
*Fertilize - Your lawn will greatly benefit from a fall application.
*Spray Weeds - If weeds are showing re-growth and temps are warm fall is a great time to spray.
*Mulch - Flower beds and shrubs will thank you for a covering of straw or leafs to carry them through winter.
*Compost - Garden and flower bed waste as well as leaves are wonderful compost material.
*Clean out the rain gutters and patch/repair any damaged pieces.
*Time to store paints, adhesives and herbicides where they won’t be subject to freezing.
*Winterize the mower and get the snow blower going before you need it.
*Clean the chimney and change the furnace filters.

THE CAPITOL CHRISTMAS TREE
IS COMING TO TOWN
On November 4th the Capitol Christmas Tree will be on display in Stevensville and Hamilton and in Pablo and Kalispell on November 5th. This is the kick-off as the tree begins its journey to our Nation’s Capitol. The tree will make several stops in Montana and many communities have festivities planned in celebration.  Watch local announcements for time and place.

There is still a need for several hundred ornaments for the outdoor tree. The deadline to turn them in to the RSVP office has been extended to October 10th. For more information on the Capitol Tree, the route and festivities visit Capitol Christmas Tree 2008.
